I did mean the stepmother. It's too bad people like her get away with the things they do. As for your father, are you remaining vague about him on purpose? If you don't want to spill the beans about what he's capable of doing, that's totally fine, but I can tell you from experience that talking about your fears is the best way to overcome them.
