I've never had a reason to hit anyone since high school (secondary school)
But then I used to find the whole fighting thing embarrassing, with people gathering round and chanting "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT"
If I was annoyed with someone I'd usually just calmly but powerfully deliver one huge precise kick to the shins, I used to wear shoes with very sharp edges and every time they wouldn't be able to walk to be able to retaliate after.
This was much less hassle than fighting.
I think I avoid fighting now by not going out to places where people drink or drinking myself, my arguments now pretty much go to the extent of slightly raised voices.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
