I honestly don't find death itself beautiful, and I wouldn't even if I became a theist again. Life can certainly be beautiful, and maybe that's where, when reflecting upon life and the realization of one's inevitable end, we find beauty. The realization that this may be one's only opportunity to do anything can bring upon one a very powerful reaction.
I've wanted to read what existential philosophers had to say on death for some time now. Maybe I'll go do that before bed. Seems as good a time as any to contemplate philosophically and (if I'm lucky) poetically.
