Hey now... parseltongue is hot. Lots of hiss, very good over the back of the neck... mmnnhh.
Anyway, the significant one may still read fanfics, but he's mostly swapped over to manga, or reading over my scorching hot wordplay. I'll read good writing... but with many writers of 'fanfic' assume the connection of the character's name with the feelings others already associate with the character, and do not adequately recreate those feelings anew (or even a reasonable allusion to them), which ultimately results in a product that feels 'rushed'.
Want to write something worth writing... worth reading? PUT YOUR HEART INTO THAT SHIT: IT IS YOUR *ART*... it's like having them along for ride with your psyche. When written well, the reader should feel an *intimate* and *deep* emotional connection with the characters... and should recognize that author's voice should they read said author's future works. It will be a recurring read, if it was worth writing at all (as a piece of fiction and/or allegory).
No pressure

Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
