Ideally, strong female characters would be as diverse as real life strong females. The only show off the top of my head that I can think of which achieved an awesome balance is Avatar the Last Airbender. All the females could fight, Katara was motherly, Toph a tomboy, Mai a dark brooding type, Azula dominated in a masculine manner, and then Ty-Lee who wore pink and was all cutesy.
On the subject of pink - it's way overdone on female characters and yet absent from a lot of strong females, and I don't understand why we can't just have a reasonable amount of pink instead of overdoing or undervaluing it.
