Nah, I think it has a lot to do with age. After a certain age, it's hard to look "cheap" unless you really try for that look. It's like girls with small boobs don't have to worry too much about looking cheap when they wear low cut shirts. It's just that you don't fit into the classic image of trying too hard, so people don't think you're trying too hard. It's all subjective. If you're used to dressing nice, it seems normal to you. But sometimes people ask you why you're dressing up, while you secretly think they're sloppy.
