I really need an concept illustrator for an anime (at least 3 drawings).. You up for something like that?
My brother told me, literally told me, that if I hadn't gotten sick (I have an auto-immune disease), I would've ended up a "puke slathered corpse on the side of the freeway" therefore god was merely saving me from my fate, and my becoming an atheist was a slap in his face. Cuz, y'know, I should be thankful he gave me that disease. Considering I was a Chemistry major at Uni, a Christian, and totally self sufficient--I told my brother he's 00a giant dickwad. Turns out, you can say what you mean and mean what you feel, as an atheist. So I use that to my full advantage if they do the same.
It's give and give, really. Unless I'm in the "turn the cheek" kinda mood, which works on some of them.
If I were you I would've asked your family member, just what god it was you were supposed to be spending your time worshipping?
They all have the same amount of evidence: 0.
Come to think of it, I just realized that theists might think that because I am no longer choked in my sleep, it's because Satan's happy with the path I'm taking. I just wanted to note that NO, indeed I do not choke anymore because I went to the doctor and got taken care of. Sad that I have to say that, really it is.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
