Yeah, a lot of the time. And sometimes, when their reasons aren't as dumb, they still have a habit of falling for dumb pseudo-science from groups like PETA. I knew a girl who was vegan because she didn't want to support cruelty to animals, and I can respect that (even if I don't agree with her), but then she started preaching all this crap from PETA videos like it's undeniable fact. It wasn't even 5 minutes into one of them when I realized they fucked up big time.
If you want to talk about health benefits, though, that's a damn big advantage vegans have over non-vegans. They tend to have issues with protein, but their cholesterol levels are amazing compared to ours. And, anyway, any vegan with a little sense knows how to get protein, anyway.

I go with almond milk both because of my intolerance and because I simply never really cared for the taste of cow milk. I'm definitely not vegetarian or vegan, though. I like cheese too much to care that it occasionally makes my ass blow up.
I've always prefered regular old skim milk. Tried vegan alternatives to milk with soy milk and soy cheese. The soy milk was alright for cooking or for cereal, but tasted like ass if you drank it straight. Vegan cheese was just plain gross to me.
