Welcome to the mad house Shep
I think the difference between anecdote and general practice is an important one. We've seen some horrible images and video, but it doesn't mean much if it's just some psycho abusing animals. For example, the video I showed included some dude punching a calf cruelly: I really can't see that any normal person is going to do that. On the other hand, I've also seen pictures of scientists in lab coats in special facilities, humanely killing an animal with a very carefully (i.e. taking their time) aimed bolt gun to the brain. I think the reality is that in an industrial setting, you're likely to get people who try to get a clean shot, but fail-- or some people that really just don't care.
Generally speaking of course... agreed.
There are good people (insert practice here) and there are those who just make a complete shamozzle of it.
