Read 1Cor9:19-23. Paul wasn't against keeping the customs of the old covenant as long it didn't interfere with keeping the law of Christ. He wasn't going against the law of Christ by doing this, but it allowed him to be closer to the the Jews so that he could preach the message to them more easily. Shaving his head and fasting didn't keep him from his bellief that that he was not under the old covenant.
Did paul not say that jesus was the sacrifical lamb and told people there is no need for animal sacrifice anymore??
