If God created the universe and all complexity and its fine-tuning. He must be more complex, fine-tuned and improbable than the universe itself. God is more of a problem and more improbable than the universe. It of course does no good to simply say God was "always there".
Would it do good to say that I was always he? Without an explanation?
If God does exist he WOULD need an explanation. He would have to have evolved or developed over long periods of time in some way.
The only way he could be there right from the start is if he was an extremely (or even ultimately) simple, completely mindless thing that wasn't alive at all. The origin of the universe(s). A singularity of some sort.
But if he's just a singularity there's no reason to call 'him' God is there? He's not a he he's an it. 'He's' a singularity or whatever. To call 'him' God and to call 'him' him is totally misleading.
If God is the origin of the universe he wouldn't really be 'God' at all. There's no reason to call him God. He's not supernatural and he's not a 'he'.
