The answer to that is actually really simple: at a certain point, kids have doubts about Santa, and when they ask their parents, they aren't told that he does exist. There comes a point in every child's life where the parents admit that Santa is a fiction, something they don't do with god.
Put it this way: if you expressed your doubts about Santa to your dad, I doubt he would ever silence you the way he does when you doubt god, right?
