Self confidence comes with self discovery. Your religion has ruined your self confidence, JL1. It keeps you tied up and gagged, threatened, and afraid to think. The teachings of your religion are why you are afraid to even be different than your family.
Being an atheist does not mean you have to be a vocal anti-theist. In fact, just like we hate when people proselytize to us, we are not fond of atheists who go around "preaching" atheism uninvited. (That's why we come here.)
