Failing to provide a response is viewed as a cop out. Apologetics (sp?) often use that technique. Raise a lot of questions, then ignore the responses if they don't match what they wanted to hear and bring up all new unrelated questions.
Address the points raised. Admit the 'opposition' made a salient point that you find your self unable to refute, or refute it. Don't traipse around the forum leaving unacknowledged arguments behind you like bread crumbs.
