My guess is that Vail's story is total bullshit. Sort of like the"former atheists" who show up here claiming that they now believe cause 'jebus' helped them find their car keys.
I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I would be surprised if there are many adult atheists who converted, unless they were in some sort of vulnerable position brought on by illness, drugs, financial problems, or something like that.
