Does any of that make sense?You can definitely get a crossover between senses, and sometimes it's useful: great musicians like Mozart associated sound with colors, for example, and might actually have visualized music in addition to internally "hearing" it. I think if you have this crossover, you are likely to be very successful as an artist or musician, as the ability to map one impression onto another medium really is one of the features of artistic genius. If you can do anything like this voluntarily, then I am deeply jealous of you.
LSD does this very much. Under its effects, I could sometimes smell music, or feel what I was looking at, etc.
Not under any chemical influence, I sometimes see sounds as kaleidoscope-like geometric patterns, especially when I'm half asleep. Loud sounds which suddenly wake me up sometimes leave a very strong visual perception. It's clearly just a little glitch in brain chemistry, but it's not harmful, and is kind of a neat experience when it does happen.
