To conclude with my thoughts to the OP, this Randa Jarrar woman is advocating the exact same thing she appears to want to eradicate (racism, xenophobia, etc) through writing a blatantly racist article that seeks to protect her imagined cultural heritage. And she's either too stupid to realise it, or she knows it and is just ignoring it.

In that case, stay out of the sauna! You non-Finns have a way of perverting the culture of taking a decent bath in the sauna. There's supposed to be heat, 60-70oC isn't the proper temperature, 80-100oC is the correct way. And why do you need attendants to throw water on the stove, that's something you do yourself. And were are the vihta, the smell and ritual of sauna bathing isn't complete without one. Oh, and take your swimsuits, towels, bathrobes, whatever off, in the sauna you're naked, even if it's a mixed bath! And why the warning signs that children can't bathe unattended? Finnish children take baths on their own as soon as they're old enough to understand that the stove is hot, don't fuck around! And why is it that no one outside of Finland seem to be able to build a proper sauna, how the benches should be arranged, proper ventilation, a good stove etc? You took the Finnish cultural heritage and perverted it! I can't stand outlanders enjoying the sauna, when they're doing everything wrong! [/sarcasm]

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what."

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
