This is predictable. Both Christians and conservatives for the last 15 years have become convinced that reality is up for grabs and everyone can just decide for themselves what is or isn't true. Frankly, they've gotten spoiled rotten so no wonder they're bawling like babies.
The main stream media has been neutered to such a degree as to become a group of stenographers. Reporters don't fact check anymore. The word "lie" has become strictly forbidden (unless you're accusing a black president of doing it). Now "report the controversy" means you record what the hard line conservatives are saying, what the milquetoast moderate-liberals are saying in response and then you call it a day.
"Both sides" always get their time at the microphone (except for anyone to the left of Lieberman, because actual liberals are just foul-mouthed, ill-mannered kooks) no matter how discredited they or their position may be. Is global warming actually happening? Who knows? Let's bring on a climate scientist and a representative from the oil industry, let them each have 10 minutes and let the audience decide which view they like better.
Did a conservative get caught being abusive, corrupt or dishonest? Get ready to hear the words "both sides" bandied around the main stream media as nobody wants to report the real problem with our political discourse, that the GOP has gone completely insane. Just keep saying "the problems on both sides" and yearn for the days of bipartisan cooperation.
The idea that one side is simply right and the other side is simply wrong is just an anathema to our modern media. Though Cosmos isn't much different than it was under Carl Sagan in its treatment of religion, the atmosphere has unfortunately deteriorated. Everyone thinks they're not only entitled to their opinion but also to their own reality.
