It isn't Divination sootsaying, reading omens, magic, sorcery, voodoo, necromancy,
A prophet is not a prophet based on his ability to tell what will come yet many did indeed have that ability.

And Mary isn't a Deity either. Maybe read my posts before speaking such things.

It's not "sootsaything". It's soothsaying. No one said Mary was a "deity". You didn't even read the links. You claimed she was a "virgin". The word was mistranslated, (as any scholar knows). Prophecy as "fortune-telling" came in late, (during the apocalyptic period. Maybe you better take that class. The role of a prophet was never to tell the future.

THe role of a prophet was NEVER to tell the future? Well what did Daniel do?

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

A prophet is a spokesperson for God. The prophet admonishes, warns, directs, encourages, intercedes, teaches and counsels. He brings the word of God to the people of God and calls the people to respond.

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover." Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord (2 Kings 20:1,2).

Jesus remonstrated with the apostles for not believing the prophets.

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

God spoke to the prophets in visions and dreams; except for Moses with whom he spoke face to face.

Numbers 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. 7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:

God prophesied through Moses that one day he would raise up another prophet like Moses and he would require all men to listen to him or face destruction.

Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken... 18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.


Acts 3:19 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. 24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

THe role of a prophet is to intercede, guide, direct, speak the word of God, instruct, interpret dreams and visions,

Daniel interpreted Pharaohs dreams and foretold the future.
