In my own life, I considered all the views of life like a mosaic of myriad contradictory positions. I concluded one and only one is correct.
Having some knowledge about places like India, and the Muslim religion, the way people live there crossed out their views.
I began reading the Bible New Testament and books on the occult. I dropped the occult stuff as that led nowhere.
I highly resisted getting off the throne of my life, but the words of Jesus- were really bugging me - especially- "He that is not with me is against me"
One night I did the deed. I surrendered. That morning I knew that I knew, in relief and delight, that I chose right. That was my sequence to begin on the road, as time has gone by more clarity and experience comes validating my choice.
I was once very devout. I sought god very hard, fell to my knees and prayed hard. As you say, I put the ball in his court.
Nothing.
Not a damned thing.
Please don't try the "not a real Christian" card.
