Surely god could have made life exist in any kind of universe he wanted? Otherwise why call him god and what is the point in a god that has to play by the rules of nature? This is what I wonder as well. If the universe requires that its settings be within precise ranges in order to support life, then it seems that god is limited by something outside of his control. But if god could design any universe that it would support life, then there is no fine tuning necessary because any configuration would result in a life-producing universe.
The argument seems self defeating to me .
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
