In my TKD class we also learn some jiu jitsu. IMO JJ is probably the best for street fight situations because you're not going to need to hurt the other guy. Don't want to end up in jail yourself. Our teacher also says that most fights end up on the ground, so we learn some basic wrestling, too, and I suppose BJJ would be excellent training as well.
That said, any training is likely to be helpful. Assuming that you do your best to avoid fight situations but this is unavoidable, simply taking a stance and giving a good kiyup could be enough to slow them down and let you get away. A lot of would-be attackers will figure there's easier prey and move on.

There is much to be said for flexibility. The techniques one might employ in a bar may be different to those one might employ if someone came at you in a dark alley.
