There's no assumption made.
There are organisms with every possible level of eye development, from light sensitive skin patches all the way to eyes that are better than human eyes.
And they didn't develop by themselves, they developed with the help of natural selection.
Macro evolution is micro evolution with more time.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
