The standard?I don't play much so I'm not exactly sure what's usual and what the terminology is. I have DDO set up so that I press W to move forward and I use the mouse to steer. S is back, A&D are strafe left/right. I can't get used to (or rather won't take the time to get used to) turning with A/D or the arrow keys. Does that make sense?
FWIW some years ago I played Oblivion and enjoyed it, although it was too easy to beat with certain play styles.
Thanks to everyone for suggestions, I'm working a ton of hours now but in two weeks will have 6 days off and I'd kinda like to spend half of that vegging to a new game.
Yeah, WASD refers to the standard keys people push for forward/left/back/right respectively. This is the typical setup for most first-person games.
I've been playing a lot of Borderlands 2 lately, which uses that setup. It's a combination first-person shooter and PRG set in the future on a planet outside the reaches of normal governing. It features a lot of violence and dark humor, if that's the sort of thing you'd like or dislike.
You can buy it on Steam. I'm not sure how much it normally costs these days.

Doom 2? Nice. I haven't done that through Steam, but I've used a handful of different emulators meant to run Doom, Heretic, and Hexen. They make modding super easy, and for a while, I was working on making a zombie mod.
