That government is currently the best those people can do. It is far from ideal, but it is the lawfully expressed will of these people. You are entitled to criticize but if you're one of these gun nutters who anticipates the day when you'll turn your arsenal on policemen and military personnel to express your second amendment 'rights' .. you're pathetic and dangerously crazy.
As for the OP, I agree with what most have expressed here. Patriotism is just provincialism on a grand scale.
