Was Jesus a great moral teacher?

Throughout most of the NT Jesus teaches good morals. There are times (some of which have been mentioned already) where the character seems to be an egotistical maniac with abandonment issues... But it's mostly good stuff like look after the poor and the sick, don't be greedy, don't hoard money when others are in need, share what you have, don't be a hater, don't judge others too harshly... Stuff like that, which would actually help make the world a better place. I find it strangely ironic that the more religious a Christian believes they are, the less they seem to agree with or follow Jesus's teachings.

But we cant forget that we "think" that this is what jesus said and did. But we don't know that. We have anonymous writtings of what he might of done.

I'm talking about what the book says. He's almost certainly a fictional character.
