I've been searching for a forum where I could have intelligent debate and conversation without all of the juvenile namecalling and such.

We-ell.... :S This is a forum where there is a lot of intelligent debate and conversation... but that isn't to suggest that we don't have any 'juvenile name-calling'. This would be a very boring place if we didn't call each other names or act immature, insane, or silly once in a while (or in my case, consistently)

Can I call you 'Bob'? (Since you might not know me yet, that last question was satire, which i've just ruined by making this notation )

I'm an athiest, I have been for a while now, however I was raised Pentecostal, so I do have a background in fringe denominations.

I'm always happy to debate, although I have never had a formal debate, so I'm somewhat new to the concept.

Recommendation there: don't. It is rather not fun, and causes you all sorts of stresses you just don't get otherwise :S

I have been lurking for a bit, and I like what I see so far.

And I've been waiting for an excuse!
