But consciousness is just the manifestation of a physical process, you can't divorce the two.

Consciousness has been build by the physical-mental cohesion
or effort so it reflex the degree of progress that you have done.
As long as you are alive physically speaking you can not divorce but divorce will occur when the parallelism among body-mind and the I is lost with the physical death.

So you are saying that you when you die your consciousness becomes a non-physical entity and separates from the body.
