I felt the same about the level of difficulty, and I think the above is exactly why. DS 1 was so hard because of it's newness and level of difficulty, after I got used to it the rest just fell in line and DS 2 was a breeze.

Trust me it is worth a second play through. Some parts even require 4-5 play throughs to get to new areas.. (Think castle room.. 2 throne chairs.. you know what im talking about :p). I would highly recommend continuing your journey.
Oh yes, I've completed the game multiple times on many characters now. It's a great deal of fun.
Can't wait for some DLC to come out... I loved the game so much i felt it ended too soon.. even though i have like 200+ hours on just one character.. That's when you know a game is a true gem.. most games now days.. 8-12 hours to play though. My first time through DS2 took me 70+ hours.. I prob could have cut some of that off but why would i want to? I truly immersed myself in this game.. and that is something i think games are lacking these days.
Cant wait for DLC! and Dark Souls 3 >D!
