I think you're generalizing from a rather narrow subset of all religions. In general, people always believe they're superior to people who are different. You can see this in atheists on this very forum. While some religions encourage this kind of behavior, I think it's a hasty generalization to say that they all do.
First of all, I did not say that all religions do so - I specifically said 'Religionists in general...'.
Secondly, I agree completely with your point that people, irrespective of religion, view outsiders as inferior. No argument at all. But this particular thread was regarding Christian lack of humility, and by inference, Christian pride. Pardon me for mentioning religion in a thread about religion. Won't happen again.
Lastly, I did not say that religions encourage this particular outlook: I said (or at least implied) that it is a behavior of religionists.
