I think one problem is that we loosely define humility in a person. Is a "humble person" someone who always lowers himself below others? Because that sounds more like a pushover than a humble person. I think that if you are generally humble around others but unwilling to take shit from someone who doesn't deserve your respect, that doesn't mean you are not a humble person. It just means you aren't a doormat.
