Also, the latter will not try and kill you for believing differently to them.
Are you kidding? One, it only has truth based on what you believe. Atheists have killed and continue to kill people for being religious.
Really? Name some.
And while you're at it, let's talk about the people killed by Christianity:
Killed by the papacy in the Middle Ages: about 50 million
Inquisition: 32,000 (low estimate) with 300,000 "processed" (read: tortured for no reason)
Crusades: 300,000,000
French War of Religion: 4,000,000
World War 2 (Genocide and world war orchestrated by a devout Catholic): 60,000,000
Genocide of indigenous Americans orchestrated by the Catholic colonization of The Americas: 50,000,000 - 100,000,000
Now, are you going to provide some figures of of atheists killing Christians "for fun," or should we get into the number of life-destroying multiple-year repeated child rapes worldwide systematically condoned and protected by your religion?

They know MORE than the average Christian, hence the reason they turn away from it.
It generally has more to do with a one sided fanatical version they 'learn' about from the most annoying people.
Directly quoting the bible is one-sided and fanatical? Most supposed "Christians" don't even bother reading it, no wonder you think direct quotes are "fanatical," it's because they are
