While what you are saying does really make a lot of sense, I get the feeling that getting rid of religions might be a first step towards a more rational world.
Indeed, pseudoscience and "new religions" will be obstacles in the way. The only thing we can do against them is to improve our education systems and to get everybody to have a better understanding of science.
