I'll cut you some slack for not recently having nieces/daughters to sit with as you watch old Disney movies. It's not just that they changed it. It's that they drastically changed key characters so they don't much resemble who they were before. If a director is going to do this, s/he needs to research the movie s/he is expanding on. If the new movie doesn't much resemble the old movie except with the names of people, then s/he deserves to be called out on it. Otherwise don't call your characters Maleficent, Aurora, and such.
