By some estimates domestic cats kill as many as 4 billion birds every year. While I like cats, I have come to the conclusion that they are an invasive species and a detriment to any natural environment in which they are introduced.
Keep your cats inside if you give shit about wild birds, small mammals and reptiles.
I do give a shit. But I also give a shit about my house... and my cat, like I said, will literally tear it to shreds if she can't go outside. I'm pretty sure she's feral. I got her from the Humane Society; someone had found her along with another live kitty on the side of the road with dead kittens and a dead momma. She started climbing the screens to go out the day I brought her home (when she was only about 2 LBs), and she still does it if she can't get outside when she wants (she's about eleven LBs now- six years old).
Because I give a shit, though, she is my last cat. She doesn't kill stuff, rather, the other cat does, but she's destructive in other ways. I'm not exactly a cat person, so once Bo is gone, I'm done.
Thanks for listening guys. It just made me so sad
