Coming from a household where one of my parents was somewhat Christian (didn't go to Church until I myself showed some interest as they wanted for me to discover my faith on my own), the other atheist, it can definitely work out....many hardcore Christians have said it can't work out, but they also spent most of their free-time at Church, which even most devout Christians just don't do.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
