I don't think thoughts are the prerogative of government-- only behaviors are. Not even imposed ignorance should be a crime-- because in modern society, ignorance of the "truth" is unlikely to negatively effect a person's ability to work, to breed, or to provide. So if parents want to teach their kids goofy ideas about ancient desert mythologies, but work to feed them, and to raise adults capable of working for their keep, then meh.
