Yes, he's alive, his whole immediate family is gone, and he's probably going to be guilted into believing that god had a "special purpose" just for him. Why else would god take it upon himself to save this one boy and kill everyone else?

Not to mention the horrific survivors guilt this kid probably has no concept of combating.
