Which means we are omnivores. If we were purely vegetarian we wouldn't be able to run on meat at all. This would have been bad news for people living in the Arctic who were forced to have a diet which was mostly meat and a lot of it raw.

3) Those catching animals did so for sometime not for ever especially when the normal food was not available. Ciao.
Our ancestors wouldn't have been able to eat the meat if they weren't omnivores. What's the point of catching animals for meat if you can't eat it?
I found another article about it on Beyond Vegetarianism Com which says, on the Home Page -
Quote:Reports from veterans of vegetarian and raw-food diets, veganism, fruitarianism, and instinctive eating, plus new science from paleolithic diet research and clinical nutrition.
Meat - a part of human diet for ~2.5 million years
Quote:The evidence that meat has been part of the human diet for ~2.5 million years, thus, directly implies that meat is a "natural" part of the human diet, where "natural" is defined as: those foods one is adapted to consume by evolution. (Side note to vegetarians: The fact that meat is a natural part of the evolutionary diet does not imply that one must, or even should, eat meat.)
I'm a vegetarian but I'm not going to deny the fact that humans evolved to have some meat in the diet if they could get hold of it. Many vegetarians and vegans are happy to accept that fact and I've supplied you with links to articles on vegetarian and vegan sites which present the evidence for meat eating.
I sometimes wonder about those vegetarians and vegans who insist that humans were never meant to eat meat. It makes me suspect it's the only thing that's keeping them from going back to meat eating. They remind me of those Christians who insist that it's only a belief in Hell that stops them from murdering people.
You're obviously free to believe whatever you like. Believing that humans aren't meat to eat meat doesn't make you superior to vegans who accept the fact that we did evolve to but who choose to be vegans anyway.
