Nothing of real importance but here is the most embarrassing moment of my adolescence. In our junior high school three things were true: 1) the lockers were old and the combination locks soft with age and tricky to open; 2) all girls wore dresses and high heels to the first few days of school even though we wore jeans and athletic shoes the rest of the year; 3) the first few days of homework invariably required us to do a little in each class thus requiring that we take home every text book.
On the morning of the third day I could not get my locker open. In the end I went running down the stairs carrying all my texts while teetering on unaccustomed heels. Inevitably, I stumbled and broke a spike heel on the stairs. I entered the class just late enough for everyone to notice carrying a now misshaped pile of books with one foot three inches higher than the other to dead silence and rapt attention. ---- A knight in shining armor had some glue. He saved the rest of my day. Thus is the life of a 13 year old girl in the 70s.
Losty's shoes aren't that far off. That's why I remembered this.
