I lived in this suburb for nearly 20 years. I honestly could not tel you where a single church is located and can't actually remember seeing one. Nor do I know anyone who actually attends church. Many Australians view regular church goers as pretentious or mentally unwell,and avoid them ,especially when this suspect behaviour is accompanied by eschewing alcohol
My city is known as "The City Of Churches' ,as well as the bizarre murder capital of Australia. Frankly I've always seen that as a bit of an over reaction to all those churches.
In recent years there has been a pleasing tendency for people to use old churches in useful and imaginative ways.Eg private domiciles,professional suites, nightclubs, brothels,that kind of thing, (OK,I'm lying about the brothels ,but it's only a matter of time)
