Yeah, Bremer's decision to disband the Iraqi army to purge it of Baathists just keeps looking better and better as time goes on. Eliminate virtually the entire Sunni officer class -- fucking brilliant! What could possibly go wrong?
I think the overarching lesson from the entire American foreign policy experience in the 21st century is no matter how bad things seemed before, things will always only go down hill once we start to act on what seemed to have been our best judgement on who our worst enemies are.
