Split Brain Experiment and the Soul
#12
RE: Split Brain Experiment and the Soul
1-Ok then, identity- An abstract concept used to identify the sum of self. A creation of various inputs to mental processes of the brain. A key part of the defintion of consciousness.
before you ask for it I'll to that too.
Consciousness- An abstract concept used to explain the awareness of executive control of the mind. A combination of identity, memory, subjectivity and continuity of thought.

Have at it! Tongue

2-Ok then I'll carry up the last part of 4 here then and continue. Are you saying that the mind or consciousness solely resides in the physical entity of the brain? If so, could 2 brains be manipulated (hypothetically) to be identical? if so would those identities be the same? If the brain ceased to function entirely why wouldn't the identity cease entirely?

3-OK we'll hold on evidence of what would kill the identity until it's defined sufficiently in 1.

4- You are correct that the abstract is about circulatory arrest ... although deep circulatory arrest standstill operations are defined in medcal dctionaries as verifying that no brain activity is present. Here's some news stories http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23768436 or http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,357463,00.html I came across.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
