I've used the endangered language archive on occasion as part of my studies, and I've learnt a language that is endangered (to a level of reasonable proficiency, not quite fluent), a language with a lower estimate of only 6000 widely dispersed native speakers. There are projects out there that aim to archive these languages and record samples in a scholarly fashion.
If you think it's worth saving, then do your part and learn it or donate to one of those projects. There are far more important things to do before this is worried about though in my opinion, so I'll pass.
