Stereotyping isn't necessarily a bad thing... it is an organizational tool. Take for example a forest of trees. Instead of veiwing each tree as a unique entity that we must begin to define from the beginning... we jump to a scaffold that they are all trees, and thus all similar in some ways... and most not worthy of entering into our short term memory usually, unless we must focus on a specific one for some reason.
