A more logical reason is that the general absence of pig bones in Judahite archaeological sites and the commonality of them in Philistine and Phoenician sites indicates that this was simply a way of doing what religion does best: create a wedge between peoples. Pigs need more water than sheep and goats...a commodity in short supply in Judah most of the time. The Philistines and Phoenicians had pigs because they had sufficient water to raise them.
