I feel like 'feminism' has gotten to be such a broad, umbrella term that you can't really tell much about a person just from knowing that they identify as a feminist. Feminism has a lot o different sub-ideologies and many of them specifically contradict each other. So before I identify as either pro or anti feminist, I'm going to ask what feminism means to you and I'm going to watch your behavior and attitude towards feminism.
For example, I know feminists usually like to claim that they deal with mens' issues as well, but I've known a lot of feminist circles that tell you you're derailing if you try to talk about those issues. I know there are feminists who are specifically hostile towards transsexuals and others who are specifically welcoming towards transsexuals (and others who are specifically hostile towards trans men but specifically welcoming to trans women). There are feminists who are for porn and sexuality in general and others who tend to be hostile towards those things.
As for me, I just miss when feminism was about empowering women and telling the world what our untapped potential was. Nowadays, it feels like it's all about womens victimization and telling the rest of the world they need to feel sorry for us poor, pitiful, weak little women. Fuck that shit. If you're going to go around telling women that the world is some scary place where they're always going to be victimized, you also get to take credit when women who believe you act like victims.
But if you want to see the worst of what feminism has to offer, look up the 'feminism' tags on tumblr. Seriously, they spend all day chastising everyone else for having privilege without ever mentioning their own. The worst part is, their attitude seems to be spreading. Anita Sarkesian behaves like the tumblr crowd and she managed to get a tremendous amount of money to produce a series of videos while refusing to even allow comments or ratings on the videos in youtube. In atheist circles, Atheism+ and especially Rebecca Twatson are the example a lot of us know best, as she uses claims of misogyny to deflect any questions of criticisms directed towards herself. Even the mainstream media is starting to fall in line.
The biggest problem, though? Question them, criticize them, say anythi that they're doing wrong or pointing out contradictions in their ideology and you are not only ignored, you're labeled a misogynist (or, in my case, you're internalizing misogyny). My only hope is that with mainstream acceptance, the assholes within feminism will finally be forced to do some self examination.
