He said that he acknowledges the fact that most feminists aren't like that, but his gut response to it is a negative one. He certainly isn't stereotyping all feminsts, which would be if he did say "all/most feminists are like this", which is the opposite of what he did say.
Uh..and not to mention, that was like the fourth or so post of the entire thread. Not much of a catch-up.
What's the difference between "gut response to it (all feminist) is negative" and "treating all feminists like that" regardless of whether he superficially "acknowledges" whether most feminists are like that?
Any difference would seem all the more nonexistent when he chose a title says "why am I so passionate about speaking out against feminism" without any sort of qualification of whose version of feminism?
Because you can have a gut reaction to something and still recognize that you're being irrational, and try to act more rationally and with empathy for other people. As far as the thread title goes, yeah I'm not a huge fan, could've been more specific, which he was in later posts in the thread. Everyone has gut reactions to certain things, either from bad experiences, social upbrining, or other factors. Recognizing the fact that it is just a gut reaction, and trying to improve anyway is what I think Bad Wolf is trying to do here.
It's like if I said "feminist" or "republican" or "evangelical christian". You might (or might not) have a gut reaction to any one or all of those groups, but you can also realize that logically, members of those groups aren't all the same, and you try to go about approaching them as individuals.
