As far as the thread title goes, yeah I'm not a huge fan, could've been more specific, which he was in later posts in the thread. Everyone has gut reactions to certain things, either from bad experiences, social upbrining, or other factors. Recognizing the fact that it is just a gut reaction, and trying to improve anyway is what I think Bad Wolf is trying to do here.Yep, that's pretty much what I meant in saying that it can be a long way from the head to the heart. The head understands that it's incorrect to stereotype a group based on experience with one or a few, yet the heart goes ahead and stereotypes. Or change heart to gut, as you guys chose that for analogy. Weird...we are largely in agreement, yet you guys make a knee-jerk reaction of everything I say.
