In the aftermath of the 6-Day War an entire generation of young Israeli scholars set off to the West Bank and Sinai expecting to find "evidence" of a massive Late Bronze Age movement of people into what is now Israel.
They found NOTHING.
Rather than do what early xtian "scholars" did ( invent stuff) they re-evaluated their fairy tales on the basis of the evidence which has led to the current understanding that there was no Conquest of the area by the "Israelites" in the Late Bronze Age or before or after. In fact, the Theory of Indigenous Origin now has the Israelites coalescing slowly in the early Iron Age and gradually spreading out.
No Joshua. No Moses. No Abraham. Just a lot of heroic horseshit written by later authors..... a technique well known to the authors of heroic poetry such as the Iliad and Odyssey.
